Hester Giles Comer

Hester Giles Comer, 98, of 4059 North Fork Church Road, Virgilina passed away on October 31, 2020. He was born January 22, 1922 in Halifax County, the son of the late Walter Green Comer and Lonie B. Ford Comer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ottie B. Whitlow. Surviving are his sons, William T. “Billy” Comer and Danny F. Comer and wife Debra, both of South Boston; a daughter, Janet C. Poole of Virgilina; grandchildren, Jason T. Comer and wife Ashley of Alton, Michael A. Poole of South Boston, Tommy W. Poole and wife Kim of Virgilina, Kenny R. Poole and wife Julie of Appomattox, Holly C. Oliver and husband Jeff of Roxboro, North Carolina, Travis C. Comer and wife Kara of South Boston.Also surviving are twelve great grandchildren and two sisters, Anna C. Glasscock of Buffalo Junction and Helen C. Thacker of Halifax. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond G. Comer, Andrew “Buck” Comer, James “Sam” Comer, Randolph L. Comer, Douglas A. Comer, Herbert “Tom” Comer, and Freeman C. Comer; a sister, Farris C. Hudson, and son-in-law, Arthur M. Poole. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 2pm at North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Doug Ballew officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
