Hilma Vaughan Carter

Clarksville, VA Carter, Hilma Joy Vaughan. Mama stopped suffering on October 12, 2017, and is now at peace wrapped in the arms of Jesus. Born on June 1, 1931, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carter; parents William and Rebecca Vaughan; sister, Maude Neal; and brothers, W. P. Vaughan, Jr., Greely Vaughan, and Al Vaughan. She is survived by daughter, Jo Ann Collins (Dennis); sons, C.B. Carter (Kim) and Paul Carter (Helen); stepchildren, Dean Carter, Diane Blalock, and Annette Reed; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 10 step-great grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Vaughan (Judy), Chester Vaughan (Maxine), Winn Vaughan (Marilynn), and Randolph Vaughan (Elaine); and a multitude of nieces and nephews, and extended family members. Visitation will be held at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA 23927 on Monday, October 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in Liberty Baptist cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mama requested donations may be given to the Lake Country SPCA, 11764 U. S. Highway 15, Clarksville, VA23927 in memory of all her grand dogs.
