Skipwith, VA – Ida Frances Newton Driggs, beloved wife of Harvey Earl Driggs, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. She was born in South Boston, VA on January 24, 1943 to the late Oliver Wilson Newton and the late Ella “Nancy” Cole Newton. Ida worked at Russell Stover and later at Burlington Industries. She was passionate about music, specifically bluegrass music, and deeply devoted to her family and her Lord. She was a member of Nelson Baptist Church. Cherishing many fond memories are her husband, Harvey; daughters, Arlene Morningstar (Jerry) of Buffalo Junction and Darlene Bowman of South Hill; brother, Danny Wilson Newton (Susan) of Halifax; grandchildren, Tawny Morningstar Deal (Josh) of Buffalo Junction and Jennifer Sanders Elliott (Dave) of Charlottesville; great grandchildren, Camrin Morton, Landon Deal, Graysen Deal, James Elliott and Daniel Elliott and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver Wade Newton. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Nelson Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Ian Rigney officiating.
