Ira Lee Cottrel Hummel

CLARKSVILLE, VA. Ira Lee Cottrel Hummel, Jr., 84, died on Saturday, February 13, 2016.He was born in Salem, NJ on March 17, 1931 to the late Ira Lee Cottrel Hummel, Sr. and Margaret Acton Hummel. Mr. Hummel was a graduate of McDonna Military School and served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.He was retired from IBM after more than 30 years as an instructor. Lee is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Boyden Hummel, his daughters and sons in law, Elaine and Paul Dean of Gibsonville, NC, Jeane and Terry Adams of Chase City, VA and Janet and Pete Taylor of Pink Hill, NC.Also surviving are his son and daughter in law, John and Lisa Hummel of Urbana, IL., five grandchildren, Jennifer, Tamara, Leah, Natalie and Sam and a great-granddaughter, Lydia.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jonathan Hummel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA with graveside service to follow at Oakhurst Cemetary, Buffalo Rd, Clarksville, VA.
