Mrs. Irene King Crews of 3190 Old Cluster Springs Rd., South Boston, VA died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the age of 106. She was born in Charlotte Co., VA on September 10, 1904 to the late Thomas Alden King and the late Frances Newcomb King and was married to the late Garland Everette Crews. Mrs. Crews was a homemaker and a member of South Boston Church of God, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. Survivors include four daughters, Jeanette Landrum and her husband, Garland of Halifax, VA, Margaret Watts of Charlottesville, VA, Mary Oakley and her husband, Walter of South Boston, VA, and Louise Bradshaw and her husband, Cordell of Raleigh, NC; one daughter-in-law, Bette Crews of Halifax, VA; one brother, Clifton King of Saxe, VA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, William Durelle Crews; a son-in-law, John H. "Buck" Watts; four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 2:00 pm at South Boston Church of God with Rev. Rick Stigile, Rev. Don Fox, and Rev. Harold Bare officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at The Church Friday, August 26 from 6:30 until 8:30 pm and at other times at the home.
