Irene Gladys Elliott Phillips

Mrs. Irene Gladys Elliott Phillips of 1225 Phillips Trail, Virgilina died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the age of 93. She was born in Halifax Co. on January 6, 1918 to the late Charlie Thomas Elliott and the late Maggie Pearl Glasscock Elliott and was married to the late James Henry Phillips. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a farmer and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include two sons, Melvin W. Phillips and Charlie J. Phillips, both of Virgilina; two daughters, Gloria Jean Phillips Schraden of Woodbridge and Linda S. Phillips Lambert of Vernon Hill; three sisters, Bertha Phillips of Halifax, Alease Holt of Milton, NC, and Janet Chappell of Vernon Hill; a brother, Charlie Bobby Elliott of Virgilina; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Willie Lee Stembridge and Margaret Blackmon, three brothers, Thomas Elliott, James Elliott, and "Doll Baby" Elliott, and a grandson, Robert Bray. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will follow in Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday from 12 noon until 1:00 PM.
