Clarksville, VA - Mrs. Irene “Renie” Hamilton Gott passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the age of 88.She was born in Washington, D.C., on November 8, 1929, to the late Florence Lily Hamilton and William Everett Hamilton.Renie was married to the late James “Jimmy” Strothers Gott.They made their home in Accokeek, MD, where 5 children, 5 acres of garden, and a real estate license kept her busy.In 1979, when Jimmy was stricken with Alzheimer’s, they moved to Hollywood MD, where she became Administrative Assistant for the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, a post she held for 20 years.In this capacity her activities ranged from organizing the annual St. Mary’s County Trade Fair, to being hoisted 40 feet in the air as part of a Bay District Fire Department rescue demonstration.After hours activities included a weekly, 90 mile round-trip to Alexandria, to hear her favorite bluegrass band at the Birchmere.In 1999 she retired and moved to Clarksville, VA.There she continued to enjoy road trips, antique auctions, collecting, bluegrass music and hosting 20 to 25 family members for occasional “Creative Dressing Dinners” and an annual Lake Week visit.Renie was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and St. Michael’s prayer group in Clarksville. Cherishing her memory are her daughters Elaine Jackson (Myles) of Lynchburg , VA and Barbara Mason (Mike) of Buffalo Junction, VA, and sons Robert Gott (Patty) of Williamsburg, VA and Brian Gott (Fay) of Hollywood, MD, as well as 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, husband, and brother Russell, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Stevens, and her grandson, Joshua Watts. A Funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Rev. Rogelio Largoza will officiate.Following the service, there will be a reception at the church hall.
