Irene Zimmerman Williamson

Irene Zimmerman Williamson of the Calvary community, Alton, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the age of 92.  Born in Person County, NC on November 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Nubie Caviness Zimmerman and Virginia Coates Zimmerman.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bernard Williamson.

Irene was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. In her working career, she was employed with Danville Dairy, Penny's Department Store and Dianna's Shop. In 1968 she went to work at Tultex, where she retired in 1992.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Dalton (Tommy) and Diane Albert (Harry); sister, Linda Reynolds; four grandchildren, Tracey Allred (James), Cathy Pulliam (Hal), David Albert (Shelby) and Sara Tapp (David); eleven great grandchildren, Susanna, Jay, Andrew, and Abram Allred, Hallie and Jake Pulliam, Piper and Ford Albert, Ellie, Charlie, and Beau Tapp; sisters in law, Doris Ann Zimmerman and Joyce Lewis; brother in law, Robert Williamson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Graham and Thomas Zimmerman; sister, Thelma Zimmerman; brothers in law, Johnny Williamson, Jerry Reynolds, and Fletcher Meeler; and sisters in law, Edith Meeler and Marie Williamson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Calvary United Methodist Church with Reverends Cathy Roach and Larry Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM and at other times at the home of Nancy and Tommy Dalton.
