Irma Morris Newton

Virgilina, VA Mrs. Irma Morris Newton, 70 wife of Ernest Herbert Newton, Sr. died Friday morning June 18, 2010 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late John Henry & Sarah Katherine Morris. Mrs. Newton was a member of the Union Christian Church in Virgilina and loved her flower gardens. A memorial service will be held Sunday 2 PM in the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be the Reverends Jim McAlister, Raymond Wooton and Norman Talley. Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters Kathryn N. Whitt Michael of Scottsburg, Virginia N. Allen Rogerand Mary Louise Newton both of Virgilina; a son Ernest H. Newton, Jr. Melissa of Scottsburg; sisters Wilhelmina Shotwell of Oxford, NC and Annie Mae Glasscock of Virgilina; a brother James Morris of Roxboro, NC; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the residence of Virginia Allen's 7115 Red Bank Road. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society
