James Bailey "Jimmy" Newton

Mr.James Bailey “Jimmy” Newton of 2008 Wilborn Rd., Virgilina died at the age of 63. He was born April 22, 1951 to the late Ira Richard Newton and the late Virginia Elliott Newton. Jimmy was a graduateof Averett College and soon began his career selling fire equipmentwith Slagle Fire Equipment and then with Newton’s Fire and Safety Equipment of Swepsonville, NC. covering Eastern North Carolina for both companies. When not on the road selling fire equipment, Jimmy loved to be out in the woods hunting. He was a member of Union Christian Church and a honorary member of the Virgilina Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Newton is survived by a sister, Barbara N.Nunn and husband Glenn of Aarons Creek; a niece Tammy N. Glascock and husband Terry of Graham, NC., and a lifelong friend, Gary Newcomb of South Boston. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014, at 3:00 PM at the Virgilina Fire Department, Virgilina, VA.The family will receive friends at the Virgilina Fire Department Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM.
