Boydton, VA James Clifton Bowers, 58, died on Friday, January 6, 2017. He was born on October 23, 1958 in Richmond.James was raised by George Clifton Bowers and Annie Rogers Strickler in Finchley, Virginia. He was a graduate of Bluestone High School in 1977.James married his true love, Ann Smiley, at New Hope Baptist Church on March 19, 1997. He was a lead technician at Sunoco for the past 22 years. Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife, Ann Smiley Bowers; mother, Joyce Bridges (Burwell); son, Brandon Bowers (Jessica); daughter, Brandi Singleton (Larmont) of Lynchburg, Va.; brothers, Lee Bridges and Warren Bridges, both of Keysville; and grandchildren, Madison and Aubrey Lynn. Visitation will be held 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave, Clarksville, VA23927. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel with the Reverend Randall Baisey officiating. Interment will follow at Fields United Methodist Church, 2800 Sullivan Road, Boydton, VA 23917.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fields United Methodist Church or the Mecklenburg County Lifesaving & Rescue Squad.
