James Edward Cooper, Jr. passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the age of 87. He was born on May 13, 1937 in Mecklenburg, VA to the late James and Martha Cooper.
Edward retired from Lenox China company, where he was a mechanic and fabricator. Before Lenox, he worked for Burlington Industries, Tungsten Mine, and Asplundh Tree Service. Edward was a member of the United States National Guard and Army and served his country in Vietnam. Edward enjoyed watching racing, tinkering, working on cars, and could fix almost anything that needed to be fixed. Edward was an avid fisherman; when he had spare time, he was always fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Gary Cooper (Ashley) of Farmville, VA, and Allen Cooper (Sangi) of Chase City, VA; grandchildren, Mallory, Jarrod, Rhodes, Moriah, and Jemma; and great- grandchildren, Allison, and Sadie.
In addition to Edward's parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Helen Keeton of Stovall, NC.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel at 2:00PM with Reverend Joe Don Cooper.
