James Clarence "J.C." Dillow

November 18, 1936 — February 3, 2022

James Clarence “J.C.” Dillow, Jr., husband of the late Merle Jeanette Davis Dillow, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the age of 85. Born in West Virginia on November 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Elma Gray Bane Dillow and the late James Clarence Dillow, Sr. J.C. was a retired First Sargeant with the Virginia National Guard, a supervisor with the State Corporation Commission and served as a VA State Trooper for 10 years. J.C. was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans Camp #581, the American Legion Post 8, and the Faulkner Memorial Masonic Lodge No. 91. Over the years, Mr. Dillow was part of the Halifax County High School booster club and was very involved with the South Boston Dixie Youth Baseball program. Survivors include son, Todd Hilton Dillow (Delain); daughter, Leslie Dillow Gregory (Mark); grandchildren, Devin Marie Dillow, Taylor Hayden Dillow, and Jeremy King; one great grandson, Dawson King; step-children, Gary Adcock (Monica), Donald Adcock (Christie) and Janet Stevens (Gary); a God son, Mickey Rizzo; 7 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Kidd; Betty Jean Dillow, the mother of his children; and a host of other relatives and friends in Bland Co, VA. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Darwin Dillow; brothers, Larry Dillow and Garland Dillow; sister, Lorene Newberry and twin sisters that died at birth. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, February 7 in the Chapel of Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 6th from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.brookslyon.com.
