James Floyd "Hippie" Fallen Sr.

James Floyd "Hippie" Fallen Sr., a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, in South Boston, VA. Born on January 24th, 1953, to the late William Edward Fallen Sr. and Margaret Moorefield Fallen, James was with us for 72 years.

James was a dedicated carpenter by trade, a profession where he honed his skills and left a lasting mark in his small community. Apart from his work, he enjoyed a life enriched by simple pleasures. Whether playing cards, engrossed in a good book, or soaking up the good times of a fishing trip, James embraced life with enthusiasm. He was often seen visiting friends and family, with the radio playing his favorite tunes, whether it be in his truck or at home.

James left his children: Brian Fallen, Margaret Hughes (alongside Shay), Jamie Fallen (with Lynn), Brandy Greene (joined by Tenishia Faulkner), and Jessica Fallen. Grandchildren: Brittany Fallen, Wesley Fallen, Robbie Hughes, Tamara Fallen (with Shawn), Jamie Lee Fallen (with Jason), Samantha Fallen (with Blake), Damion Fallen, SirMarcus Greene, Serenity Greene, Lia, Little Luke, Markee, and Skylar Witcher. Additionally, James leaves behind ten great-grandchildren and siblings Darlene Stevens and Edie Fallen.

James is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, son Craig Fallen, and grandchildren Malcolm Hughes and Courtney Fallen, who preceded him in death.

In honor of James’s life, a celebration will be held at the home of Margaret and Shay Hughes on May 3rd at 2 pm, where family and friends will gather to share memories and rejoice in his life well lived.
