James Irvin Martin

Mr. James Irvin Martin of 1120 Cluster Ridge Trail, South Boston, VA died on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the age of 68. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on February 5, 1943 to the late Joe Russell Martin and the late Jenny Davis Martin and was married to Patricia Jones Martin. Mr. Martin attended True Light Baptist Church and was an active member of River Ridge Hunting Club. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Jones Martin of South Boston, VA; one son, James "Jimmy" Martin & wife, Becky of Clover, VA; three grandchildren, Amelie Martin, Kadyn Martin, and Zach Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Glass, Anna Talbott, Thelma Harris, and Jean Carol Satterfield; and one brother, Joe Martin. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Brooks Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Martin officiating. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 7 PM until 8:30 PM.
