James Willard Irby

Mr. James Willard Irby, Sr. of 2102 Guill Town Rd., Scottsburg, VA died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the age of 79. He was born June 22, 1932 to the late James Wilson Irby and the late Lula Martin Irby, and was married to Nettie Austin Irby. He was a retired employee of Craddock & Terry, a former member of Tinker's Car Club, and attended Clover United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Nettie Austin Irby of the home; two daughters, Linda I. Wagstaff and husband, Carl of Halifax, VA, Cathy I. Taylor and husband, Chris of Leasburg, NC; one daughter-in-law, Pam M. Irby of Weaverville, NC; two sisters, Magdaline I. Bass of Halifax, VA, Bessie I. Owen of South Boston, VA; four brothers, Hugh Thomas Irby, Bernard Irby, and Edward Irby, all of Halifax, VA, and Donald Irby of Roxboro, NC; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James W. Irby, Jr. and two sisters, Orana Clark and Michael Irby. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 2 pm at the Austin Family Cemetery, Scottsburg, VA with Rev. Doug Sasser and Rev. Quincy Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Friday night from 7 until 8 pm, and at other times at the home.
