James "Jimmy" Thomas Moore

James "Jimmy" Thomas Moore went to this Heavenly home on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the age of 74.  He was born in Halifax County  to the late Arthur Moore and the late Vera Toombs Moore and was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Jones Moore.

Jimmy was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and for many years served as the church treasurer.  He retired in 2009 after close to 40 years with the post office in Halifax.  He loved to play golf at Greens Folly and was on the course every chance he got. He loved Virginia Tech football and always enjoyed fishing.  His family was very important to him, always present for family trips, if the grandkids went, so did he!  Jimmy was a special person always putting everyone else first and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Carr (Justin), Stephanie Moore (Shaun Carver) and Scott Moore (Heather); grandchildren, Taylor Terry, J.D. Carr, Madison Terry, Jessica Carr, Hannah Terry, Jordan Carr, Jacob Carr and Finleigh Moore; special nephew, Mike Moore; special friend, Mike Spencer and his mother-in-law, Tine Bell Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; brother, Bill Moore and father-in-law, William Jones.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Glenwood United Methodist Church with The Reverends Jennifer Greer and Randy Holmes officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
