LEWTER, Mr. James Oliver, age 93, of Roswell, Ga., died September 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Warner Lewter. James was born in Chase City and raised by his mother, Hilda Lewter Love- longtime proprietor of Lewter Drug Store in downtown Chase City. Jim served in WWII as a medic in the China, Burma, India Theater. Following a long and successful career with Shell Oil Company, James and Louise moved back to Chase City to enjoy retirement. In 2006, Jim moved to Georgia to be closer to family. Mr. Lewter is survived by his daughters, Luanne Lewter Wells and her husband, Guy Wells, of Roswell, Ga. and Lynda Lewter McDowell and her husband, Mark McDowell, of Houston, Texas. Additionally, Mr. Lewter is survived by five grandchildren, James Wells and Christopher Wells (parents, Luanne and Guy Wells) and Brooks McDowell, Nicholas McDowell and Sarah McDowell (parents, Lynda and Mark McDowell). James and Jami Wells are also parents to Mr. Lewter's three great-grandchildren, Grace, Caroline and Allison Wells.
