James Dallas Matthews

Mr. James Dallas Matthews, age 72, of 4010 Ramble Rd., Virgilina went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2010. He was born in Halifax Co. on June 12, 1938 to the late William Ollie and Jettie Bowen Matthews and was married to Lola Ann Baylous Matthews. He was a retired weaver at J.P. Stevens and was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Wanda M. Lloyd and husband, Robbie of South Boston and Lori M. Pulliam and husband, Amos of Virgilina; son, James Michael Matthews and wife, Donna of Virgilina; brothers, Lawrence Matthews of Virgilina and Woodie Matthews of South Boston; sister, Margie M. Morris of South Boston; grandchildren, Jason Lloyd, Ashley L. Young, John Matthews, Grace Pulliam, and Jamie Pulliam; great grandchild, Morgan Young; and step grandchildren, Brent Seamon, Sean Smith, and Brandon Pulliam. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Matthews Family Cemetery with Rev. Todd McClure officiating. A viewing will be held at Centerville Baptist Church on Friday, July 9 from 6 until 7:30 PM. A service will held at 7:30 PM following the viewing. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home.
