James Bedford Powell

Buffalo Junction, VA - Mr. James Bedford Powell, husband of Maxine Wilson Powell, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the age of 86.He was born on March 16, 1930 in Buffalo Junction, VA to the late Hallie McCann Powell and the late Lorenzo Powell.James was a retired farmer and insurance adjuster.He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church and served there as a deacon. In addition to his wife of 65 years, James is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Janet O. Powell of Nelson, VA, Carroll Powell of Maryland, Michael G. and Janet S. Powell of Buffalo Junction, VA and Barry and Carolyn Powell of Victoria, VA.He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Kent Hudson, nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. The family of James B. Powell will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA from 7 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016.The funeral service for Mr. Powell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.The Reverends Jackie Wray and Bill Thomas will be officiating.
