James Edward Snead

Mr. James Edward Snead of 1075 Paradise Rd., Alton, VA died on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born on June 20, 1926 to the late Richard Walden Snead and the late Bessie Moorefield Snead, and was married to Jackie H. Snead. Mr. Snead was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. Mr. Snead is survived by two daughters, Carrie S. Murray of Alton, VA and L. Dale Snead of South Boston, VA; two step daughters, Cheri L. Dease of Halifax and Lindy L. Heath of Roxboro, NC; one step son, J. Robbie Lloyd of South Boston, VA; four brothers, Johnny Snead and Lonnie Snead of Clover, VA, Cecil Snead of Mechanicsville, VA, and Robert Snead and Roger Snead both of South Boston; four sisters, Edna Hatcher of Dryburg, VA, Edith Francis of Clover, VA, Nancy Lowery of South Boston, VA and Shirley Snead of Scottsburg, VA. One grandson, Kristal Bogan and her husband, Cameron; two great grandchildren, Madisyn and Kinsley Bogan; and a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step son, Chuck Lloyd; a step grandson, Brian Lloyd; and a brother, Richard Snead. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Rev. Todd McClure officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and other times at the home.
