James Bascom Terry

VERNON HILL, VA Mr. James Bascom Terry passed away at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the age of 74.Born in Big Stone Gap, VA on May 10, 1943, he was the son of the late William Terry, Sr. and the late Eva Dorton. He served his country in the U.S. Army. When he returned home from the military, he went to work in the coal mines with Westmoreland Coal Company.He loved hunting and fishing, playing the banjo and never met a stranger. He is survived by his children, James “Lucky” Terry, Jr. and companion, Roni Wilson, Vickie “Sissy” Terry and companion, Jr. Pyron; grandchildren, Zach Owen, Taylor Terry, Madison Terry, Hannah Terry, Byanca Conners, Gabby Conners, and Arianna Conners; brothers, Johnny Terry and wife, Gean Terry and Charles Terry and wife, Carolyn Terry. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Delilah Terry; a brother, William Terry, Jr. and a sister, Deanna Butler. Funeral services for Mr. Terry will be Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 3:00PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home one hour prior to the service, 2:00 – 3:00 PM.
