Mr. James Willard "J. W." Toombs of 11145 James D. Hagood Hwy, Clover, VA., died Friday, November 25, 2011 at the age of 72. He was born on December 25, 1938 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Marilla Toombs and the late May Fannie Guthrie Toombs and was married to Carol Jean "Jeannie" Toombs. Mr. Toombs was a retired employee of All Pro Carpet Cleaners, a member and deacon of Clover Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of Clover Volunteer Fire Dept. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Regina T. Hilton and her husband Terry of Clover, VA and Christy T. Strohm and her husband Jason, also of Clover, VA; three brothers, Wesley Toombs of Randolph, VA, Thomas Toombs and Garland Toombs both of Red Oak, VA; four sisters, Lillie Mae T. Tatum of Red Oak, Lois T. Mull of Chase City, VA, Edith T. Lacks of Keillysville, VA, and Doris T. Owen of Chase City, VA.; and by five grandchildren, Seth Hylton, Jagger Hylton, Zander Strohm, Skyla Strom and Keira Strohm. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Conner. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2011, at 2 PM at Clover Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 at Clover Baptist Church, and at other times at the home.
