James Wallace Wilson,74, husband of Willie Buchanan Wilson, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his residence.he was the son of the late William Carrington and Esma Elliott Wilson.Wallace was an accomplished farmer and founder of Wilson Transport. A devoted husband, father, and friend, he was greatly known for his generosity.Funeral services will be held Sunday 2 PM at Grace Baptist Church.Officiating will be the Reverend Jack Stewart.Burial will follow in the Halifax Memorial Garden in South Boston.Surviving in addition to his wife are a son William P. (Amy) Wilson of South Boston; a daughter Beverly W. (Bill) Wood of Amelia; grandchildren Kelly Wilson, Kaitlin Wilson, Tyler Wilson, and Chase Wilson; predeceased by a son Kenneth Ray Wilson; Surviving sisters Maxine (James) Powell of Buffalo Junction, and Rachel Matthews of Virgilina; deceased brother W.C. Wilson and deceased sister Edith Clark; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends.The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Saturday night from 6 PM until 8 PM.Pallbearers are C.B. Brewer, Barry Powell, Dwight Matthews, Bobby Fields, Tony Varella, Ricky Buchanan, Marvin Matthews and Ronnie Jones.Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, Virginia 24592.
