Janet Franklin Mccormick

Mrs. Janet Franklin McCormick, age 65, of 1021 Darby Lane, Forest, VA, formerly of South Boston,died Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on March 10, 1945 to the late Archer and Kathryn Oakley Franklin and was married to Bill H. McCormick. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and of American Legion Post 8 Auxiliary, and was a retired employee of The Woodview. Survivors are her husband of the home; three daughters, Tabitha Maddox and husband, Andy of Forest, Shelley McAvoy and husband, Jason, also of Forest, and Shelia Trent and husband, Dale of South Boston, and by seven grandchildren, Blane Maddox, Allison Maddox, Olivia McAvoy, Leigha McAvoy, Heather Trent, Patches Trent, and Matthew Trent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Blane. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 5, at 2 PM in Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Bryant conducting the service. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday night, October 4, from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of Lorene Throckmorton, Easley Crossing Road, Scottsburg, VA.
