Janet Loftis Woody

Janet Loftis Woody of the Cluster Springs community, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 29, 2024.  Born in Halifax County on November 23, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Loftis and the late Sallie Oakes Loftis.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Woody, Jr.

Janet retired as a coil inspector with Wabash in 2000.  After retirement she became a full time grandma and caregiver.  She was an excellent cook, entertaining friends & family, loved decorating and travelling.

She is survived by her daughter, Luanne Walker (Tommy); grandchildren, Warren Rutherford (Kristin) of Lexington, NC, Josh Walker (Kaci) of Lynchburg, Jordan Anderson (Adam) of Halifax and Jill Walker of Halifax; great grandchildren, Hadley, Bronwyn, Carter, Shanleigh, Cooper, Will, Austin, Tucker and Ally; son-in-law, Ray Rutherford of South Boston; 2 nieces and special friends, Linda Shelton, Roger Dunkley, Brenda Jacobs, Norma Smith and Erma Lowery.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan W. Rutherford and siblings. Patricia Loftis and Rick Loftis.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Wooten officiating.
