Janie Susan Lowery Hudson

Mrs. Janie Susan Lowery Hudson of 8195 Philpott Rd., South Boston died Friday, February 25, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born in Halifax Co. on August 22, 1919 to the late Charlie and Susan Clara Hudson Lowery and was married to the late David E. Hudson, Sr.. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Louise East of King, NC, Anne Wilkerson and husband, Billy of South Boston, and Gayle Hammock of South Boston; three sons, Larry Hudson and fiance, Jodie Kouns of Comanche, OK, Lucky Hudson of Alton, and David E. Hudson, Jr. and wife, Cindy of South Boston; special friend, Charlotte Carter of South Boston; brother, Rossie "Bud" Lowery and wife, Eva; grandchildren, Bridgett Watkins, Rusty East, Lori East-Tyler & husband, Joe, Liz Link & husband, Dale, WC "Buck" Wilkerson & wife, Ally, Dena Walker, George Hudson & wife, Kim, "Scooter" Thomas & wife, Kristin, David Eudell Hudson, Jesse Lynn Pulliam and wife, Karen, Linda Hammock, Lacy Hammock III, Sherry Whitt, Angie Whitt, Heather Thompson, and Presley Wayne Thompson; and great grandchildren, Ashley Link, Morgan Link, Drew Link, Hailey Hudson, Anthony Hudson, Jasmine Hudson, Montana Hudson, Kerrigan Hudson, Raynor Pulliam, Cora Hudson, Ja'Lyn Tyler, Justin Tyler, Nadia Tyler, Gavin Wilkerson, and Holden Wilkerson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Emmett Whitt; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hudson; grandson, William L. Whitt; sisters, Berta Lowery, Rowena Lowery, and Hallie Lowery; and brothers, Garland Lowery, Willie Lowery, Monroe Lowery, and Marshall Lowery. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. George Gorman and Rev. Carl Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26 from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
