SOUTH BOSTON - Mrs. Jeanne Headspeth Taylor passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the age of 87. She was born in Charlottesville, VA on November 3, 1928 to the late Carroll Headspeth and the late Ella Anderson Headspeth. She was the widow of Lawrence Everett Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Ash Ave. Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a choir member for 50 years. Jeanne was a 1945 graduate of C.H. Friend High School and worked at Carroll's Auto, later known as Carroll's Sporting Goods, from 1952 until 1993. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution Berryman Green Chapter and the Henry W. Woodall Chapter of The Eastern Star. She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer T. Rothermel and husband, George of Charlotte, NC; a son, Michael Taylor and wife, Melanie of Allen, TX; two brothers, Bill Headspeth and wife, Tanny of Virginia Beach, VA and Jack Headspeth and wife, Shirley of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren, Greg Taylor, Kerri Sheffield, Taylor Rothermel, and Lauren Rothermel; and a great granddaughter, Savannah Paige Taylor. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Ash Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend John Eureand the Reverend Dr. Paul Larrimore officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Monday, January 11 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM. The family requests that those wishing to give memorials please consider Ash Ave. Baptist Church or the South Boston/Halifax Co. Museum.
