Red Oak, VA –
Jerry Morell Jennings, husband of Peggy Noblin Jennings, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the age of 87. Born in Halifax County on December 29, 1935, he was the son of the late James Edward Jennings and the late Edna Lacks Toombs. Jerry was a 45-year employee of Burlington Industries. After his retirement, he busied himself with helping Peggy in her endeavors such as a cook at Peggy’s Best Restaurant. Jerry was a musically gifted man and played both the piano and the guitar by ear. When he was not in his beloved vegetable garden, his daughters fondly remember him sitting on the porch with Tiger, the cat, and smoking his pipe. He attended Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Deborah Jennings-Conner (Tony) of Timberlake, NC, and Kimberley Ann Jennings (Megan Goodrich) of Durham, NC as well as a grandchild, August Jennings Goodrich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Hebra “Wheat” Toombs.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 9 at Wylliesburg Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Kristen White officiating.
