Jerry Hamilton Johnson, Jr. died on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Skipwith, VA. Born September 20, 1959, at the US Naval Hospital, Marine Corps Air Station inCherry Point, NC, the son of Jerry H. and Beverly Ann Johnson, by whom he is survived. He is also survived by two sisters, Sabrina Lynne Newton and husband, Barry, of Graycourt, SC and Athena “Tina” R. Jimmerson of Clarksville, VA; brother, Eric Quinn Johnson and wife, Juanita, of Skipwith, VA; stepdaughter, Lisa Dawn Cheek and husband, Marcus, of Rougemont, NC; stepson, Derreck Clemmer; and an aunt, Phyllis Dixon of Skipwith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Todd Johnson. Jerry was a former partner and investor with Smoke and Fire Prevention Systems of Clarksville. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and riding his favorite horse, “Salina”. Jerry could be seen most anywhere around the lake, riding Salina and making many friends with those he encountered along the way. Sometimes, it seemed he was born in the wrong time period, as he would have loved to have been part of the old west and around during the birth of our nation. The family will hold a Graveside Service for Jerry at 3 PM in Bluestone Cemetery on Sunday, October 11, 2020; with a Visitation being held one hour prior at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.In the case of inclement weather, the Service will be held in the Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel.In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Blue Horse Mukwa Animal Rescue at 25859 VA Hwy 49, Chase City, VA 23924.The family is being cared for by Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home and online condolences can be made at www.watkinscooperlyon.com.
