Jessie Charlie Satterfield

SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Jessie Charlie “J.C.” Satterfield, widower of Nell Lloyd Satterfield, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the age of 83. Born in Halifax County on February 14, 1935, he was the son of the late William Satterfield and the late Bessie Carter Satterfield. J.C. was known to many by his nickname, “Worm.”He was retired from Burlington Industries and spent his days outside enjoying planting and tending to flowers, fishing and was an avid race fan.He loved everyone, especially a love for children. He is survived by brothers, Ernest Satterfield of Scottsburg, Odell Satterfield and wife, Linda of South Boston and James Carter and wife, Doris of Virgilina; and grandsons, Dean Satterfield, Jr. and Darren Satterfield. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dean Satterfield, Sr.; sisters, Ethel Zanon and Betty Pruitt; and brothers, Billy Satterfield and Carl “Sonny” Satterfield. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel at 2:00 PM with Reverend Tim Mull officiating. Interment will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6:30-8:00 PM and at other times the home of Odell and Linda Satterfield, 3167 Dan River Church Road, South Boston.
