Jimmie Lynn Hughes

Jimmie "Lynn" Hughes of Vernon Hill, VA passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the age of 59. Born in Halifax County on October 26, 1962, he was the son of the late Margie Rice Monroe and Jimmie Claiborne Hughes, and wife Sue, who survives.

Lynn worked as an insulator in the construction field. He enjoyed his time working as a DJ, known to many as the Master Blaster. A beloved father, grandfather and brother, he was the family caretaker, helping out with whatever, whenever he was needed.

Lynn is survived by his children, Taylor Hughes and Lauren Hughes; grandchildren, Nathaniel Hughes, Ross Fanti, and Adalyn Hughes; siblings, Pamela Walker, and husband, Jan, Darlene Hughes, Keith Hughes, Michael Hughes, Stacy Morris, and husband Earl, Elizabeth Cammock, and husband Luke; special friend, Teresa Carr and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Rice Monroe, and sister, Karen Hughes.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25 at Mountain Road Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike McDowell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of Pamela and Jan, 1070 Mountain View Lane, Halifax.
