Jimmy Ray Walker, age 74, of South Boston, VA, passed away on Friday, July 5th, 2024. Born on July 4th, 1950 in Virginia, Jimmy was a beloved member of the community. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Jimmy worked as a truck driver and was known for his excellent plumbing skills. He had a passion for fishing, a sweet tooth that couldn't be ignored, and a sense of humor that always had you laughing. Jimmy will be deeply missed by his wife, Dawn Puryear Walker, his daughters, Tina Walker(Charles Ulery) and Carrie Hoskins(Steven), both of South Boston, his grandchildren Carly Hatfield, Stephanie Harris, Skylar Hoskins, Natalie Hoskins, Elexa Wright, Tyler Hoskins, and Elijah Ulery, as well as his stepchildren, Randy Bowman(Debbie) of Goochland, VA, Jamie Morris(Dennis) of Virgilina, Rodney Bowman(Norma Kaywood) of Nelson, Ronnie Bowman(Miranda Williamson) of Nelson, and his sister Tammy Fisher of Alton. He is preceded in death by his father Emmett Walker, his mother Flossie Walker, and his sister Patricia Anderson. Jimmy's funeral will be held at Nelson Baptist Church in Nelson, VA on Monday, July 8th, 2024 at 12:00 pm with Visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow in Nelson Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be meeting friends and loved ones at all other times at 1075 Arthur Ware Trl. South Boston, VA 24592 Arrangements are being handled by Watkins-Cooper-Lyon Funeral Home.
