Jo Anne Harris Brewer

Virgilina, VA - Jo Anne Harris Brewer, beloved wife of Thurman Brewer, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 65. She was born in Granville County, NC on March 9, 1953 to the late Sol David Harris, Sr. and Josephine Clay Pruitt Harris. Jo Anne was a graduate of J.F. Webb High School and received her Associates degree from Danville Community College. She worked with the Granville County school system as a teaching assistant and a bus driver. She was active in her community as a member of Virgilina Women’s Club and Virgilina Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Amis Chapel Baptist Church. If there was a need, Jo Anne was the first to volunteer. Her favorite outreach was making prayer blankets for any person in need. A creative mind, Jo Anne loved crafting such as scrapbooking, quilting, basket making and painting. She painted and designed barn quilts. She also was an avid photographer and loved to dance. In addition to her husband of 46 years, Jo Anne is survived by her adoring children Casey Brewer and his wife, Sally of Virgilina, Tracey Beers and her husband, Quinn of Chesapeake and Shane Brewer of Virgilina. Also surviving are the lights of her life, grandchildren Eli, Troy, Colin, Kyle, Porter and Abigail; a sister, Judy Campbell of Townsville, NC and a brother, Sol Harris, Jr. of Oxford, NC. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Amis Chapel Baptist Church in Oxford, NC with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Terry Howard will officiate the service.
