Clarksville, VA - Joan Boyd Easley, wife of the late Frank Brooks Easley, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the age of 85. She was born in Mecklenburg County on July 8, 1933 to the late Lelia Crowder Boyd and the late Shelton Goode Boyd. Joan was a graduate of Clarksville High School and Smithdeal-Massey Business College. Early in her life, she worked for a Richmond television station and later at the Mecklenburg County Treasurer’s office. Joan, along with her husband, Frank, owned and operated the former Big Orange Convenience Store in Clarksville. She was a member of Ephesus United Methodist Church and for many years attended Clarksville Presbyterian Church. Joan is survived by sisters, Mary Anne Boyd Oettinger and Beth Boyd Baker, both of Clarksville; step-daughter, Frankie Easley, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Daniel; twin sister, Jean Roosevelt Boyd; brothers, Judge Robert R. Boyd and Otis B. Boyd and step-daughters, Bobbie and Molly. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Ephesus United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jim Fry officiating. Interment will be at Oakhurst Cemetery.Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Harold and Elizabeth Gielow, 3006 Trottinridge Rd., Clarksville, VA.
