Joanne Wilson Elliott

SOUTH BOSTON Mrs. Joanne Wilson Elliott, wife of Michael Anthony Elliott of South Boston, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the age of 71.She was born in Halifax County on September 19, 1948 to the late Herbert and Ruby Bray Wilson. Joanne was employed with Coca Cola, Halifax Regional Hospital, Zachary Power Plant, Halifax County Sheriff’s Dept and Home Care Alliance of Virginia.She loved planting flower gardens and shopping. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and loved going to ballgames with her family. She also was very involved with her church and loved singing in the choir. In addition to her husband, Mike, she is survived by a son, Darryl Holt of Virginia Beach; daughter, Krista Barnes and husband, Kirk of Scottsburg; grandchildren, Taylor Barnes and Madison Barnes; sisters, Fannie Mae Tuck and Becky Francisco; special friend, Samantha “Sam” Cline and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Pete Wilson. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Interment will follow in the Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other time at the home.
