Joe Lloyd

Mr. Joe Lloyd, 66, of Scottsburg, VA passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Duke University Hospital. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on April 6, 1948 to the late James Thomas Lloyd and the late Hennie Brown Lloyd and was married to the late Charlotte Epps Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd was a supervisor for J.P. Stevens and then Dollar General, a US Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, a lifelong member of Winns Creek Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and choir member for many years. He loved his dogs, Avi and Stella. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Turner & husband, Tony of Alton, VA; one son, Chad Lloyd & wife, Sarah of Winchester, VA; five grandchildren, Alex Turner, Anthony Turner, Lainey Turner, Hannah Lloyd and Sadie Lloyd; one brother, Allen Lloyd & wife, Linda of South Boston, VA; one sister, Helen L. Barksdale & husband, Bruce of Halifax, VA; sisters & brothers-in-law, Dorothy Kinder, Richard Epps, Connie Gail Womack, Jackie Ingram, and Linda Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Brock Everett Lloyd, siblings, Gracie Wilson, Hazel Barker, Howard "Sonny Boy" Lloyd, James Clarence Lloyd, and Franklin Lloyd. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Winns Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. James Kopco and Rev. Barry Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Winns Creek Baptist Church and at other times at his home. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider a donation to the church cemetery.
