Joe C. Stewart

Mr. Joe C. Stewart of 11203 Stewart Trail, Virgilina died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the age of 84. He was born in Person Co., NC on July 23, 1927 to the late Shanks and Naoma Epps Stewart and was married to the late Lessie M. Stewart. He was an employee J.E. Burton Construction and Eaton. Mr. Stewart was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church Mens Lodge. Survivors include three sons, Perry Stewart of South Boston, VA, Dennis Stewart and wife, Janice of South Boston, and Eric Stewart and wife, Kim of Missouri City, TX; one daughter, Ava S. Whitlow and husband, Charles of South Boston, VA; two brothers, Erket Stewart of Roxboro, NC and Bisit Stewart of Wilmington, DE; one sister, Nell Stewart of Roxboro, NC; five grandchildren, Angie Bridgers and husband, Darren, Lee Anne Daniel and husband, Kevin, Carl Epps, Jerrod Stewart, and Heather Whitlow; five great grandchildren, Kala Bridgers, Kyle Bridgers, Kole Bridgers, Zachary Daniel, and Holland Daniel; and special friend, Quincy Edwards of Lillington, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Sherman Stewart,and two sisters, Adell and Eula Stewart. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Talley and Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Friday from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM and at other times at the home of Ava and Charles Whitlow, 100 Birch Ct., South Boston, VA.
