ALTON, VA. Mr. John William Glasscock, 67, died Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was born March 18, 1948 to the late Algie John and Virginia Greene Glasscock in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. John was a graduate of Bluestone High School. He became a decorated combat veteran in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. After the Army, John worked with ABB Manufacturing as a welder for twenty six years. He also was a member at Trinity Pentecostal Church. He was very friendly and was the sort of person who “never met a stranger”.Mr. Glasscock is survived by his wife, Margaret Young Glasscock; brother and sister-in-law, James “Jimmy” Madison and Dale Glasscock; niece, Kelly Dale Glasscock; great nephew, Mason ; step-children, Betty Davis and Buck Davis and his wife Amy; step-grandchildren and spouses, Tabitha Bowes, Carisa and Dax Elliott, Nicholas and Cheryl Bowes, Amanda Davis, and Adam Davis; and step-great grandchildren, Alex Elliott, Jaxson Elliott. John is also survived by his devoted friend, Randy Smith. He was preceded in death by step-grandson, Daniel Bowes. Visitation will be at 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA 23927. Interment will follow at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery.
