John William Wagstaff, Jr. of Chase City, VA, husband of Patricia Bryan Wagstaff, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the age of 74. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 17, 1943 to the late John William Wagstaff, Sr. and Edith Dickerson Wagstaff. John was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy and Randolph Macon College. He was a standout football player, winning championships titles at both schools. John was retired from Baskerville Correctional Center where he worked as a hearings officer. In addition, John was the Vice-President of Huss, Inc. Truck Co. and President of Virginia Show Productions, Inc. He also was the founder and CEO of WFXQ (Fox) Radio Station in Chase City, the CEO of Wagstaff Enterprises, Inc. and Drapersville Land Company, Inc. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by daughters Kelly Wagstaff Owen and her husband, Marvin Lynn Owen of Chase City, Jane Wagstaff Lacks and her husband, Louis H. Lacks III of Mt. Laurel; son John William Wagstaff, III ofGlen Allen; sisters Elizabeth Storm, Barbara Gilkey and brother Richard H. Wagstaff.Also surviving are grandchildren Patrick Bryan Owen, Zachary Lynn Owen, Lyndall Elizabeth Lacks, Patricia Lauren Lacks and John William Wagstaff, IV and a great-grandchild Noah Bryan Owen. The family will receive friends at their Boyd Street residence on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. Services will be private.
