John Whitt

Mr. John Whitt, Jr. of 1941 Eastover Dr. South Boston, VA died Wednesday, October 9, 2013. He was born in Virgilina, VA on August 23, 1929 to the late Johnnie Green Whitt and the late Willie Ida Ford Whitt and was married to Ethel K. Whitt. Mr Whitt was a retired operator at Westinghouse. After his retirement he worked part time at Crowell Motor Co.. He was a member of the South Boston Church of God. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 and V.F.W. Post 8243. Survivors include his wife, Ethel K. Whitt of South Boston, VA; three sisters, Alma Green of Red Oak, VA, Gladys Lewis of South Boston, VA, and Bobbie Jean Lundsford of Creedmoor, NC; one brother, Talmadge Whitt of South Boston, VA; a number of nieces and nephews; and a number of special friends including Donald Guthrie. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Rufus Whitt, William Whitt, Levi Whitt, and Franklin Whitt, and a sister, Hazel E. Whitt. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 Pm at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Stigile officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove U.M.C. cemetery. The family will recieve friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
