Jose Abel Arroyo

Jose Abel Arroyo, 96, widower of Ellen McAlister Arroyo, died Friday, February 04, 2011 at his home. Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico on February 23, 1914, Mr. Arroyo was the son of Alfredo and Eulalia Fernandez Arroyo. He served his country in the National Guard during World War II and was retired from the Department of Transportation after 57 years with the Federal Government. A Funeral Mass will be said at 11 AM Monday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Clarksville. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Farmville at a later date. Mr. Arroyo is survived by his daughter, Emily Jane Rankin of Crofton, MD and son and daughter-in-law, James and Ellie Arroyo of Victoria. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth V. Rankin of Arlington, Christina M. and Thomas Beaver of Rixeyville, and Michele E. and Lawrence Judd of Lovettsville; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew M.
