Joseph Dean Bass

Mr. Joseph Dean Bass of 2031 Dan River Church Rd., South Boston died Friday, June 4, 2010 at the age of 80. He was born on March 27, 1930 to the late Claude Clifton and Nettie Mildred Hamlett Bass and was married to M. Betty Solomon Bass. Mr. Bass was a retired lead lineman for Dominion - Virginia Power and was a member of Dan River Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dianne Bass Hinson and husband, Warren of Apex, NC; a son, Rickey Dean Bass and wife, Verna of Garden City Beach, SC; a sister, Lorene Bass Lucado of Appomattox; six grandchildren, Josh Hinson, Ryan Hinson, Caroline Hinson Flory, Christi Youngblood, Lee Rudisill, and Tyler Bass; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Collie; and six brothers, Elwood, Curtis, Earley, Willard, Melvin, and Albert Bass. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dan River Baptist Church, 1228 Dan River Church Rd., Halifax, VA 24558.
