Joseph Edward Dunn

Boydton, VA – Joseph “Joe” Edward Dunn, Jr., husband of Irene Carter Dunn, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at the age of 79. He was born in Mecklenburg County on June 26, 1941, to the late Minnie Louise Allen Dunn and the late Joseph Edward Dunn, Sr. Joe made a living as a farmer but was passionate about his horses. He trained walking horses as well as rabbit and coon dogs. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene; daughters, Yvonne Rose (Vince) of Bluff City, TN, Delores Wilborn (Lester) of Alton, VA, and Debbie Chase (Mike) of Clarksville; son, Joey Dunn (Tracy) of Boydton, VA; grandchildren, Amber Rose, Travis Rose, Brooke Swillie, Jessica Franklin, Joshua Chase, Jay Dunn and Savannah Dunn as well as 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Guerrant, Wanda Griffin and Brenda Trickey. A Memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. on Tuesday, June 22 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. The Reverends Jim Fry and Jeff Prewer will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and all other times at the home.
