SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mr. Joseph Newman Glascock passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the age of 80.He was born May 7, 1936, the son of the late Willie Osborne and the late Maude Mae Morris Glasscock and was married to Judy Allgood Glascock. Joseph formerly worked at Chandlers Garagein Virgilina and was a long time fire truck and equipment salesman for Slagle’s Fire Equipment and 4-Guys Fire Trucks.Joe was a faithful member of Dan River Community Ruritan Club and enjoyed cooking stews and BBQ’s. Other than the Ruritan Club his hobbies included camping, cooking, fishing, RFDTV, playing guitar and banjo, tinkering with stuff to figure out how things work and playing with his grandkids. He was also a member of Union Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Judy; sons, Timothy Newman Glascock(Sherri) and Howard Terry Glascock(Tammy); daughter, Angela Glascock Hite(Mike); granddaughters, Paige Faith Hite, Gabrielle Erin Glascock, Chloe Brianne Glascock; and grandsons, Nathaniel Allen Hite, Bentley “Bigga Pot”and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brothers, Charles Osborne Glasscock, Clarence Glasscock, Morris “Pedro” Glasscock, William Bea Glasscock and sister, Sarah Glasscock Stern. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating.The family will receive friends on Thursday at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
