Joseph Marlow Lacks

SOUTH BOSTON - Mr. Joseph Marlow Lacks went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the age of 82. Marlow was born in Halifax Co., VA on October 17, 1934 the son of the late Johnnie Armstead Lacks and the late Rosa Conner Lacks Adcock and was married to Mary “Bea” Guill Lacks. He was a retired mechanic at Tultex and also a farmer. Mr. Lacks was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bea Lacks; children, Rickie Lacks (Carolyn), Donna McCann (Cecil), and Brian Clay; grandchildren, Holly Powell, Joey McCurry, Jessy Lacks, Andrew McCann, Luke McCann, Kristin Lacks, Daniel Lacks, Arianna “Boo Boo” Clay, Lanie Clay, and Kamden Clay; 4 great grandchildren, brothers, Richard Lacks, Sterling Lacks, and Michael Lacks; and sisters, Alice Martin, Betty Carol Robbins, Polly Lacks, Daisy Hatcher, Dolly Dyer, Ida Smith, Peggy Dyer, Hazel Thompson, Sharon Matthews, and Barbara Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenny Lacks, granddaughter, Paula Comer, great granddaughter, Savanna Powell, and sister, Margaret Hazelwood. Funeral services for Mr. Lacks will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Stewart, Reverend Kevin Begley, and Reverend Dave Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church on Friday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM and at other times at the home, 1007 Pine Ct., South Boston.
