Joseph Randall Smith

Joseph Randall Smith, 73, widower of Maxine Chilton Smith, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at his home. He was born January 3, 1938 to Irvin Saunders and Hattie Jones Smith. A graduate of Chase City High School with the Class of 1955, Joe was the President of C.S. Construction Company for over 30 years. He was a board member of the American Cancer Society and and active member of the Board of Directors of the Clarksville Regional Museum. A memorial service will be held 2PM Saturday in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Rodney Barwick officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and M.C. Day of South Boston, son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Cecil and Ann Smith of Danville and brother and sister-in-law, Irving and Betty Smith of Miami, FL. His grandchildren, Joseph Bryan Smith, Marc David Smith, Ashley Faith Day, Michael Keith Smith, Jacob Mason Day, and great grandchild, Karsyn Smith also survive. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Randall Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7-9pm.
