Josephine Tharpe Lloyd

HALIFAX, VA Mrs. Josephine Tharpe Lloyd of Halifax, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the age of 76. Born in Charlotte County on June 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John Emmitt Tharpe and Mittie Council Tharpe. She was married to the late Herman Hagood Lloyd. Josephine was a selfless person who cared for everyone at any time and was employed as a CNA.Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. Left behind to cherish her memorie s are a son, Larry Dean Lloyd and wife, Cynthia; daughter, Cathy Lloyd Barksdale and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Bobby Ray “BJ” Barksdale, Jr., Jeremy Allen Barksdale, and Shawn Michael Lloyd; great granddaughters, Skylar La’Rae Barksdale and Kaylin Nicole Barksdale; and sister, Pauline Brady. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Christian Lloyd, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
