Joshua Allan "Poke" Williams

Joshua Allan "Poke" Williams, of 1035 Comer Lane, South Boston, VA, died Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was born in Halifax County, VA on April 2, 1990 to Randy Williams and Cindy Wilson Williams and was 22 years of age. Josh was employed by Louisiana Pacific, and was a student at James Madison University where he was pursuing a degree in geology and was a member of the JMU Geology Club. He was also a member of the Hyco Road Hunting Club, a former HCHS Varsity Baseball player, a former player and long time supporter of Halifax County South Baseball, and was the recipient of the 2008 Virginia Dixie Boys Baseball Scholarship. In addition to his parents of the home, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Don & Liz Williams of South Boston; maternal grandmother, Becky Wilson of Alton; paternal great grandmother, Sue Thompson of Rustburg; maternal great grandmother, Allena Elliott of Virgilina; sister, Kelsy Williams of the home, aunt & uncle, Vicky & Dan Irby of South Boston, VA; uncle & aunt, Curt & Kim Wilson of Richmond, VA; Girlfriend Jaynee Campbell of Vernon Hill, VA; and best friend, Travis Snead of Virgilina, VA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Curtis Wilson, uncle, Mike Flynn, maternal great grandparents, K.H. & Gladys King and paternal great grandmother, Josephine Sadler. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11 am at Grace Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jack Stewart. The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church Monday night from 6:30 until 9 PM and at other times at the home.
