Joyce Hamlett Jones

ALTON - Mrs. Joyce Hamlett Jones, wife of the late Robert Richard Jones, Sr., passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the age of 76. Mrs. Jones was born in North Carolina on January 31, 1943, the daughter of the late George Lee and Beatrice Snow Hamlett. She loved flower gardening, porch sitting, reading, and bluegrass music. Joyce was a member of First Crossroads Baptist Church. Cherishing her memories are her children, Billy Jones (Nancy) of Alton, Sharon Rickman (Ronnie) of Alton, David Jones (Kimberly) of Alton, Lisa Lloyd (Irvin) of Alton, Leslie Shepard (Eric) of South Boston, Robert “Bobby” Jones, Jr. (Nancy) of Vernon Hill, and Allan Bruce Jones of Alton; brother, Alton Hamlett,; sisters, Shirley Lewis, Ruby Howerton, and Lorene Weaver.She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George Hamlett, Jr. and Ricky Hamlett. A memorial service for Mrs. Jones will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in the Betty B. Jones Chapel of Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Herbert Brown officiating. The family will receive family and friends immediately following the service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at her home.
